Crowned Danish champion last season in the CrossCar Junior category, Sigurd Stubberup Frederichsen has officially confirmed his intention to compete in the full Euro League Championship for the upcoming 2025 season.

Originally a specialist in international karting competitions before switching to CrossCar, the young Danish driver – who will celebrate his 13th birthday on 18 February – is determined to take another step forward in his development by competing in all 13 races on the 2025 calendar.

“My goal is to become a professional rallycross driver and after competing in the Danish National Championship and selected events in Sweden, we felt it was time to take things to the next level,” explains Sigurd.

Last year, he got a taste of the RallyX championship by competing in two rounds in Nysum and Buxtehude. An experience he capitalised on by finishing 10th in Race 2 at Nysum.

“The two races we took part in in 2024 showed us that the level in RallyX is significantly higher than what we were used to. Of course, I still have a lot to learn. While I’d rate my performance in Nysum as a solid 6 out of 10, we struggled to confirm this progress in Buxtehude, where our results were rather disappointing”

For the new season, Sigurd Stubberup Frederichsen is not shy about his ambitions.

“My main goal is to qualify for as many finals as possible this year and I’m also aiming for my first RallyX podium. While RallyX will be my top priority, we’re also planning to compete in other national events in Denmark, Sweden and Norway, depending on the schedule and budget.”

Sigurd will also have the support of Linnemann Promotion, the team run by Ulrik Linnemann.

“My father has known Ulrik for a number of years. They first met when Ulrik was racing in the Danish Super GT series. In fact, it was Ulrik who encouraged us to switch from karting to CrossCar. During our first two seasons in off-road racing he quietly supported us behind the scenes, but for 2025 we’ve decided to fully integrate into his team.”

Having spent several seasons in asphalt racing, Sigurd has no regrets about leaving karting behind in favour of CrossCar.

“I started karting at the age of five and competed in numerous races both in Denmark and throughout Europe. I also secured several podiums in the Danish championship”

“My greatest strength is my ability to adapt. In karting, I have always performed well in changing track conditions and I have never needed an adjustment period when discovering new machines or tracks.”

“With this in mind, my father thought my skills might be better suited elsewhere, which led me to try CrossCar after a test session on an 85cc machine. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to concentrate entirely on off-road racing. These days, karting is just part of my training routine. One thing is for sure, I couldn’t be more excited to start my third season in CrossCar!”
